We shop differently now - can your business keep up?

Power Retail has published an article recently about what ecommerce tactics are becoming obsolete - https://powerretail.com.au/getting-started/5-out-of-date-e-commerce-tactics-you-should-stop-using-in-2021/?mc_cid=8e07eefbf4. They make an interesting point about businesses which are not offering a holistic shopping experience, given the changes to way we shop now in times of pandemic lockdowns and working from home. Omni-channel retail (browsing and buying from any device, anywhere) is here...

Business Catalyst Shutdown

Adobe's Business Catalyst system was a great platform for meeting small and medium business online  needs, but Adobe has discontinued the platform and slowly wound down support.  Ascend 7 has been working hard over the last 12 months in particular to migrate our old Business Catalyst clients to alternate systems like RocketSpark, SiteGlide and Shopify. The Business Catalyst platform is ending service on September 26th, 2021. Adobe is now at 3 years past the service closure an...

E-Commerce Conversion Optimisation: Actionable Practices to Increase Conversion on Your Website

When looking at how customers interact with your e-commerce website, it’s important to have a reliable way of measuring this. The most prominent metric is the e-commerce conversion rate.  A conversion rate relates to the percentage of visitors who come to your website and complete a desired goal -- whether that’s making a purchase, signing up or calling your business., out of all visitors to your site.  When internet users leave your e-commerce site without interacting with its con...

Beware of Suggestive Selling!

It has come to our attention that a number of our clients have been receiving emails from <name>@dnsaustralia.org email addresses.  If you receive this email or similar to this, note that it is not a scam but it is very sneaky suggestive selling.  The difference between a scam and suggestive selling is that a scam means you will not receive the product/service you have paid for. Suggestive selling, however is a sales technique where an employee asks a customer if they w...

Are Retailers Breaking up with Returns in 2021?

There’s no denying that returns are one of the most expensive parts of the retail industry. Unlike a physical store where the customer can see and feel an item before making a purchase, it is difficult to do this online.  As eCommerce continues its domination due to factors like the COVID-19 pandemic, the rate of returns is rapidly growing alongside it. However, retailers are beginning to come up with new ways of asking their customers to keep their products rather than return them. ...

Digitalised product information - why a PIM solution is essential for the new normal

PIM (Product Information Management) systems help companies to centralize all their content, improve it, and share it more quickly – distributing it over all the channels of a complex strategy, like printed catalogues, online shops, and marketplaces. There are so many changes in the marketplace and how consumers are now buying their goods and services. Businesses are closing physical stores, moving online, offering free pickup services, providing deliveries. They need to digitalize their catal...

An introduction to a PIM system (Product Information Management)

If you have a range of products from a number of suppliers, and you are just discovering how difficult it is to keep on top of supplier updates, brochure reprints, website content, and pricing lists, you are not alone. There are many businesses (of all sizes!) throughout Australia who have the same problems: Too many folders for digital documents, too many spreadsheets describing products, packed with columns that attempt to organize loads of data of which are constantly in the process of being ...

Professional Product Photography

We have all been to online shops that have a limited number of poor images that don't help sell the product.  Often they are the same as every business selling those products.  Sometimes there is only one grainy image that doesn't properly show the product. And guess what? Those products don't sell! Especially if the product copy is poor too (see our other blog post about Writing great product copy) .  The potential buyer leaves the site and buys elsewhere. Help make your business...
